New office for the new 4K scanner
My lovely new cine film scanner is now here, delivered safely from Debrie Technologies of Paris. However….. having gone for the best new 4K scanner available it is too big and too heavy for my current office so Anglian are building me a new office which will be ready for the first week in October.
New 4K scanner has arrived

Running along quite well… reduced price on video files
Just to say, as we are all trying to regain some sense of normality, everything is ticking along nicely here. So if you have any video tapes (VHS, VHS-c, MiniDV, Hi8 etc.) that need archiving to a digital format now would be the perfect time to get those saved. Although I am not VAT registered I thought it would be a good time to get everyone out spending again so I will remove 15% of the price for Bronze computer file archives after the first hour. This means a reduction to £17 per hour of your recordings for all subsequent hours. so two hours will be just £37 instead of £40. Three hours, £54, and so on. This will carry on until 31st August, so the best part of 6 weeks to get those video archives saved at a reduced cost.
Difficult times for all
Glad to report that we are all now well here, all three of us fell ill within a couple of days of each other at the beginning of March. It’s taken a while to get back up to close to 100%
DHL disaster
I am always being asked by customers who have large parcels of tapes or cine films to be digitized “How shall I get them to you?”.
Disc Printer upgrade for tape to DVD and film to Blu-ray
I have seen good service from my faithful TEAC P55C thermal transfer disc printer but time moves on and I wasn’t happy with some of the printing results so I have decided to upgrade to a brand new class leading Rimage Everest Encore from RAM peripherals in London. (Brilliant service, thank you Ian.) Some of my colleagues think I am mad investing £5,000 in what they perceive as a dying medium. “The DVD is on it’s way out” I was told and yes to an extent that is true….BUT…. there are a lot of us out there who like physical media. Books were supposed to die out because of the Kindle. Vinyl was supposed to die out decades ago but it is still going strong. And although, yes, a lot of my customers just want computer files these days a lot of you also want to have your home movies from video tape or cine film saved on a disc based system. A proper DVD or Blu-ray with a beautiful photographic label. With information about who, when, where and why? So I am looking forward to creating beautiful edited DVDs from your tapes for a long time yet.
Upgrades upgrades upgrades
It’s like Dominos here. Going 4k with my Memory Cine Film Scanner has led to a chain of events where every change leads to another change.
New 4k cine film scanner coming in September
As I did over 10 years ago I went through masses of research and conversations with various companies to decide on my next 10 year plan for Cine Film.
